VASER liposuction uses ultrasound energy to gently break apart and emulsify fat cells before they are removed, allowing for more controlled, precise, and advanced body contouring compared to traditional liposuction techniques.
Unlike traditional liposuction, which relies primarily on mechanical force to break up fat, VASER technology selectively targets fat while helping preserve surrounding structures such as blood vessels, nerves, connective tissue, and lymphatics. Renuvion® — also commonly referred to as J-Plasma® — is an advanced skin tightening technology that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with helium plasma to create controlled heat beneath the skin. This technology is designed to improve skin contraction and tighten soft tissues after liposuction or body contouring procedures.

When fat volume is reduced during liposuction, the overlying skin must shrink and adapt to the body’s new contour. While skin naturally has some ability to retract on its own, Renuvion helps enhance and accelerate this process by targeting the fibroseptal network — the connective tissue framework beneath the skin that provides structural support and elasticity.

One of the unique advantages of Renuvion/J-Plasma is that it allows for immediate tissue contraction during surgery. As the energy is delivered beneath the skin, collagen fibers within the connective tissue framework contract instantly, creating visible tightening effects at the time of the procedure. In addition to this immediate contraction, the controlled thermal energy also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production process, leading to continued improvement in skin firmness, elasticity, and tightening over the following several months.

Lipo 360, or circumferential liposuction, focuses on sculpting the entire torso from multiple angles rather than treating a single isolated area. This approach typically includes treatment of the abdomen, flanks (love handles), waistline, and lower back. By contouring the midsection as a complete unit, Dr. Jacobson can create smoother transitions, improved waist definition, and more harmonious body contours. Treating circumferentially often produces more balanced results than addressing only one area.

Most patients experience approximately 5–7 days of downtime, with many returning to work within several days depending on the extent of treatment. During the first week, it is common to experience swelling, mild bruising, and temporary soreness — most patients describe the sensation as muscle soreness rather than significant pain. Compression garments are worn for several weeks to support healing. Light activity can begin within several days, while strenuous exercise is usually resumed gradually over 3–4 weeks. All liposuction patients also receive INDIBA® radiofrequency treatments and access to manual lymphatic drainage to optimize healing.

Fat cells removed during liposuction are permanently eliminated. Maintaining a stable weight after surgery helps preserve long-term results. If significant weight gain occurs in the future, remaining fat cells may enlarge and the body may store fat in untreated areas. Final results continue to refine over several months as swelling resolves and tissues tighten.
