Travel Timeline for Out-of-Town Patients
We have refined a clear, step-by-step process to make traveling for surgery simple and predictable.
Step 1
In-Person Consultation
Meeting in person allows for the most thorough evaluation and personalized planning. Dr. Jacobson performs a physical examination, reviews your goals, discusses recommendations, and develops a customized surgical plan. Consultations are $100.
Step 2
~Two Weeks Before Surgery
A preoperative appointment includes medical review, surgical planning, consent forms, preoperative photographs, prescriptions, and recovery preparation. Many patients combine this visit with other errands while in Lincoln.
Step 3
Day Before Surgery
Many patients arrive in Lincoln the day before surgery and settle into their hotel accommodations.
Step 4
Surgery Day
Patients undergo surgery at Advanced Medical Imaging Surgery Center and return to their hotel with their caregiver following recovery and discharge.
Step 5
Postoperative Day One
Patients are seen at JCS for their first postoperative appointment, where we assess healing, review recovery instructions, evaluate drains when applicable, answer questions, and ensure patients are recovering appropriately before traveling home. For larger procedures, postoperative care may also include in-home visits by Dr. Jacobson.
Coordinated Recovery Planning
One of the greatest concerns for out-of-town patients is coordinating follow-up care. Whenever possible, we coordinate follow-up visits, lymphatic massage appointments, and recovery evaluations during the same trip to minimize travel and maximize convenience. Following procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, and body contouring, we frequently recommend postoperative lymphatic massage through Via Medical Massage to help reduce swelling, improve comfort, and support healing.
