Reduce Excess Skin and Fat From the Arms

An arm lift reduces excess skin and fat from the arms. Also known as brachioplasty, an arm lift reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow. Removing the excess skin caused by weight loss or natural aging can tighten loose skin that extends from the underarm area to the elbow; liposuction is sometimes used in combination to achieve the best results.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Non-smokers
  • Individuals 18-65+ years old in generally good health without conditions that impair wound healing
  • Individuals who desire aesthetic enhancement to remove loose skin in upper arms
  • Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic expectations

Downtime

You can expect to have 14 days of downtime.

Recovery

You can expect swelling, bruising, tightness and some pain after your procedure. You will have compression garments that will need to be worn for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. We strongly encourage 14 days of downtime to recover. You will have lifting restrictions for 6 weeks.

Your hands and forearms will be swollen. It is recommended to raise your arms above heart level when sitting in order to decrease swelling to your hands. You can use pillows for this. You should also avoid lifting your arms above your head for 3 weeks. Additionally, Dr. Jacobson will provide specific instructions on activity restrictions after surgery, which ensure that the tissues heal appropriately to give you the best results.
