Correct Signs Of Aging Around The Eyelids

Eyelid Surgery, or “Blepharoplasty” is a highly individualized procedure that can address excess skin, smooth wrinkles, reduce puffiness, and correct other signs of aging around the upper and lower eyelids. Our eyelids are home to the thinnest, most delicate skin on our bodies, so it’s no surprise that signs of aging will begin to appear around our eyes earlier than in most other areas. Blepharoplasty can give you a more “refreshed” and youthful look by addressing excess skin and puffiness. After a comprehensive exam and discussion of your goals, Dr. Jacobson may recommend an upper or lower blepharoplasty, or a combination of both.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Non-smokers
  • Individuals 30-50+ years old in generally good health
  • Individuals without serious eye problems or conditions that impair wound healing
  • Individuals with realistic goals and expectations

Downtime

3-7 days of surgical downtime and up to 14 days of social downtime.

Recovery

Most patients are presentable to the public in 10-14 days. One week of lifting restrictions is common, while the delicate tissue around your eyes heals. Ultimately, it may take a few months before final healing is completed. Typically, blepharoplasty incisions hide nicely within the crease of the eyelid and are imperceivable once healed. Every patient heals a little differently, Dr. Jacobson will give you detailed instructions for aftercare and returning to activity.
